After tonight's performance show, all I can say is here is your new Idol America, Melinda Doolittle! This competition is her's to lose. What frentically fantastic phrasing from what must be one of the most talented performers to ever grace the American Idol stage. Sure, she's been doing this for a long time but she is such a pro. That bar is so high now that none of the other girls, except maybe Lakisha, and I think it'd be a pretty tall ask for any of the guys, to reach her. She's in a whole different league.

Going home tomorrow night? If it's 2 girls then I think it'll be Sabrina Sloan and Haley Scarnato. If it's only 1, then I think it might Haley. However, if it is going to be the top 12 with the highest number of votes, I'd be very worried in the guys camp because half of them could be packing their bags.

it's all about melinda doolittle and lakisha jones. . maybe blake lewis or chris richardson can take it but my vote is for the girls.

Frankly, again another American Icon bites the dust. American Idol was supposed to be an amateur contest. Now you have contestants that are "back up singers" with a vocal coach and a fashion coach rather than a Mom and Dad and Karaoke machine. The girls with the Karaoke machines are getting so dissed by the judges that you can almost feel the commercialism, the dollar signs swimming in their heads. I'll even bet that Melinda, who is an awesome singer, probably rode to the first audition in a limo. I'm not interested in watching professionals compete against teenagers. You have to wonder why they even let Haley and Antonella in the top 24 if they were so bad. Certainly, there must have been some other professionals among the thousands that were real singers. I smell something here. I really wish they would do away with these obnoxious judges and really let America decide.

I really hated to see Sundance get voted off. He was one of my favorites. I do not see how Sanjaya stays on there. He can't sing very well and those expressions are hideous.

Ridiculous (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 07:21

This is a singing competition. And it's unfortunate that at this stage of the game, you have such weak singers. I remember seeing at least 5 boys that would have blown each of the current boy contestants out the water. The boys are the pits. And the one's that have potential aren't singing like it. So the million dollar question is: "How did these poor singers get through". As for the girls, there is the ability to hold a tune and then there is just talent. The history of American Idol tells us that they incredibly talented don't always make it through. Antonella can not hold a candle to the talent that we see on the stage. I don't think she should be voted through b/c she looks good. If she's so attractive, go to America's Next Top Model. But singing is not her talent. How did she get through again? Talent is color-less. So what's the comment, "Let's make this an even playing field" supposed to mean???? What they should implement is a way for the judges to have "veto" power. Unless the producers of American Idol step in make a change, let's see what talented individual gets kicked off tonight.

Oh yeah, one more thing, regarding Antonella's sex appeal: in addition to being uncommonly pretty, Antonella has indicated that her personality might be as unattractive as she is physically attractive. (Remember her "oh well" reaction when her best friend got eliminated in week 1?) She's got typical stuck up pretty girl attitude, and if she hopes to last, she's got to curb that and smile, because the only reason she'll last is her voting base, and she will rapidly alienate them if she reveals her inner "beauty."

tonickc (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 01:23

Interesting perspective and I completely agree. But do you think she can pull it off? I'm not so sure. The fan base seems to be knocking her pretty badly. I don't know if her youth knows how to handle that. On the other hand, people love the underdogs! Smiling

Nick__C (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 10:17

Antonella is kind of like Hillary Clinton. She's got a lot of people who HATE her, but also a lot of strong support. That's who I was referring to as her voting base. They both need to rely on their base to take them as far as they can. Then again, Antonella's base is probably smaller than Hillary's.

Anonymousiam (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 23:34

Well . . . I guess there went her voting base!

Wow! Haley over Sabrina and Sanjaya over Sundance? That completely caught me off guard.

I didn't think Sundance would be the next Idol, but I didn't think he would get dq'd before Mr. Ed!

anomnibus (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 00:19

If I were Antonella looking at these comments, I'd be quite pleased to see my followers (positive and/or negative comments)!
I'm not a fan of hers, haven't voted for her yet. - can't really dislike her, as we haven't met. The only thing we have in common is our gender.
But I know this . . . it appears, from these comments, jealousy runs rampant.
In my opinion she is unequivocally beautiful, in a younger, Cindy Crawfordish way, and I'm certain she will not win the competition.
Nevertheless, she has a great future!
- and yes, sex does sell, but so does stupidity.

Nick__C (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 00:06

It has to be 6 boys and 6 girls, and here's why. Suppose that some viewers only tune in on one night and thus only votes on one night. Considering how much better the women are than the men, I don't think that's far fetched. I'd bet that in total, the women have more votes than the men, just because there probably were more voters watching that night. Because of the larger pool of voters, comparing Antonella's total to Phil's (for example) isn't exactly a sound comparison. It wouldn't be scientific. Of course, the producers can do whatever they want. I just know that if we simply knock off 4 guys, they will probably have solid grounds to make an appeal and that's not something the producers want to deal with. I figure it's going to be 6 and 6 for next week. (Incidentally, I'd actually prefer if 3 or 4 guys took a walk. Haley and Sabrina aren't doing well in the polls, and I'd really like to watch them stick around longer.)

SeaChan (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 23:16

I don't understand why everyone likes Antonella. She's a hoe and cannot sing. She's really bad.

Actually, I am a record producer and have several acts to my credit over the past 20 years which include the likes of Creed, Evanscene, Martina Mcbride, Pearl Jam and a host of others. So, like Simon, I know what the hell I am talking about! Go vote for whatever loser you want to.... I am not saying Antonella stands a chance at the final 4 but she will likele get a record deal if she can get close. She deserves a shot as she is already someone people remember. The other contestants just blend into the woodwork... Are you getting any smarter yet?

Anonymous436734 (not verified) Fri, 2007-03-09 17:14

Suuuure...you're a record producer. I believe ya.

thatswhatshesaid (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 23:44

Sad as it is . . . looks like blending into the woodwork is working a little too well.

Anonymous8675309 (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 21:11

Antonella didn't get kicked off you morons! Grow up! This is America we are talking about here! SEX SELLS!

Anonymoussheis (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 23:38

Oh yes she did! But she'll be just fine. She did great!

Anonymous8675309 (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 21:09

Again, please vote to balance the ladies out! Antonella has got the look, the attitude and a decent voice that can be trained to be a great performer! Hasn't anyone here ever heard of that freak singer...what was her name....oh yeah now I remember ..Britany Spears! She can't sing worth a shit according to those close to her but boy does she have the package just like Antonella does

GET IT, GOT IT, GOOD!

Anonymous1968398 (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 21:19

It is pathetic that some people are so diluted that they actually think this way. If you buy someone's album because they "have got the look" then you really need to find something better to do with your hard earned money. You really want to deny one of the other ALREADY extremely talented girls the opportunity of a lifetime because Antonella MIGHT be TRAINED into becoming a good singer?!? (Furthmore, I disagree with your diluted view on that but that's another argument for another day). Obviously you are tone deaf so I guess I should feel sorry for the fact that you can't see how awful she is compared to her competitors.

Anonymous19683981 (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 00:36

Pathetic, is the credit you give to these "diluted people". But that's another argument for another day.
If I purchased an album because of the way it looked, I'm pretty sure the cashier would put my money in the same cash register as those who purchased an album for reasons you deem fit.
And to all you tone deaf people? It it weren't for folks like you, musicians would be broke!

Anonymous 34 (not verified) Thu, 2007-03-08 13:52

"deluded" not "diluted"

man--antonella is so out of her league! like sanjaya, she should just ASK to be eliminated. at this point, it's embarassing.
so what's the big announcement tomorrow? not 6 and 6--that they'll include more girls than guys, or the top 12 vote getters? i heard that floating around.

mawidol (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 16:54

Is it true Antonella Barba got kicked off the show? I just heard a blurb on Fox News as I passed my work's breakroom. Something about her "baring too much."

Just curious if anybody else heard that.

Anonymous1 (not verified) Wed, 2007-03-07 19:29

Antonella Barba is horrible she needs to be kicked off the show.....Frenchie was kicked for posing nude! Besides her singing is horrific.....please vote her off
