American Idol 2007 Episode 20 - Top 12 Performance Show Review
Welcome to the first Top 12 performance show for 2007! This week our contestants are going to be performing the hits of one of the all time great artists,
Diana Ross so I expect we'll be hearing some songs from
The Supremes.
It should be an interesting week now that there is only one contestant packing their bags on elimination night. Who is going to step up and own this thing? Who is going to bomb and wish they'd stayed home? Will there be tears? Will Simon wear something other than a grey tshirt? Lets find out!

I've thought Brandon has been lucky to make it into top 12 as he's been at the bottom of the polls every week. This week he once again proved why he shouldn't be there. Forgetting the words. Having his voice break during the song. Bottom three for sure!

It's a bit pitchy for me and a bit of a yell job. I'm sure she can do better but I didn't buy that one tonight.

That was terrible. Sanjaya has to have the weakest voice in this competition and that song was just way to big for him. And why is he trying to look like a slimed down version of Chris Sligh?

As much as I like Phil, and as much as his wife loves him, I think it would be great if he could stop singing soppy love songs and rock it up a bit.

Quite nice with the whole James Bond thing going on there. Safe this week I'd say.

I think the idea was good but the execution was just wrong. The song had energy but Blake stripped it out and killed it. Could have been great. It wasn't. nb. If you're going to slow a song down, slow it ALL the way down.

Another weak voice. Weak bottom range. Pitchy. This sounds like an Idol winners song and just as bad.

THE GOOD THING ABOUT AMERICAN IDOL IS THE ONE'S THAT REALLY DO HAVE TALENT ARE IN THE TOP FIVE AND SIX AND IF THE TALENT IS THERE THEY WILL GET CONTRACT'S AND THEY WILL MOVE ON AND THERE IS AT LEAST 5 ON THERE THIS YEAR THAT WILL GET THERE START JUST BY BEING IN THAT TOP 5 AND THERE HAS BEEN SO FAR ONE'S THAT HAS BEEN VOTED OFF BEFORE OTHER'S THAT SHOULDN'T HAD BEEN VOTED OFF YET THE LAST 3 VOTE OFF'S (COULDN'T BELIEVE ),THE LAST THREE VOTED OFF WAS IN REVERSE THE THREE THAT STAYED SHOULD BE THE ONE'S GONE !!!

Unfortunately I missed this week, DVR malfucntioned. Anyway, I agree with all of the comments.
Based on voice and no appearance... it should come down to Melinda and Lakisha. But what do I know, that's just one guy's opinion
I'd say AJ should be there with those two as well, but unfortunately America didn't think so.
I bet it will be Senjia or Haley to get thrown off this week,
and yes, white contestants are lacking soul and conviction.
i think sunjaya is weak, but he's cute so girls will continue to vote for him -- same with brandon. he's cute and has a very nice voice but he needs to take some risks and pick the right songs. but i love his tone. and haley - she uses to much vibrato or something in her voice and i don't think she should stay. Sabrina was definitely better than her on vocals.
so Haley Sunjaya and Chris R. will probably be in the bottom three
and mr. Blog person .. Jordin is amazing so don't say she has pitch problems and i love chris sligh- he put on a great performance last night in my opinion
I wouldn't be suprised if Haley gets voted off though.
after watching the show, I think either Brandon or Stephanie will be voted off.
Are you serious about Jordin having a weak voice? I'll grant you the fact that she has some pitch problems in her lower register, but those were nonexistent tonight. Her pitch was all but flawless. I really hope they get rid of Sanjaya, Haley, or Brandon, though I liked Haley better than the two boys tonight. Oh, and Chris Sligh might be in danger too because that arrangement was the worst move ever. He totally butchered a very powerful song. The melody was completely lost to the "coldplay" style, which is not how a motown performance or even a motown-inspired performance should behave.
Yes I am serious about her having a weak voice. Listen to her back. Close your eyes and you'll hear the pitchiness.
As for Chris, I really enjoyed what he did with the song because it wasn't just a karaoke performance. He actually showed that he's a creative artist who dares to take risks. Something of which very few in the top 12 can claim to.
