American Idol 2007 Episode 31 - Top 7 Results Show Review

Submitted by The Critic on Wed, 2007-04-18 19:34.

Tonight we bid farewell to one more and apparently we're going to see the top seven split into two groups before we find out who is going home.

Martina McBride Martina McBride Jamster Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing - Anyway will be performing her new single Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing - Anyway Anyway from the album Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing Waking Up Laughing tonight.

First up though, lets take a quick recap of who sang what:

Phil Stacey sang Keith Urban - Keith Urban - Where the Blacktop Ends Where the Blacktop Ends Jamster
Jordin Sparks sang Martina McBride - Martina McBride: Greatest Hits - A Broken Wing A Broken Wing Jamster
Sanjaya Malakar sang Bonnie Raitt - The Best of Bonnie Raitt - Something to Talk About Something to Talk About Jamster
Lakisha Jones sang Carrie Underwood - Jesus, Take the Wheel - Single - Jesus, Take the Wheel Jesus Take the Wheel Jamster
Chris Richardson sang Rascal Flatts - Melt - Mayberry Mayberry Jamster
Melinda Doolittle sang Julie Reeves - It's About Time - Trouble Is a Woman Trouble is a Woman Jamster
Blake Lewis sang Tim McGraw - Tim McGraw: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 - When the Stars Go Blue When the Stars Go Blue Jamster

Taking a look at this weeks polls, what do the numbers indicate about tonight's elimination show.

It should come as no surprize to anyone that Sanjaya is still at the top of the "Who does everyone want to go home" poll but this week he's rocketed up to 73% - almost doubling last week's numbers. Chris Richardson is in second place on 9% while Phil Stacey and Lakisha Jones share third on 7%.

In the "Who is everyone's favourite Idol" poll this week, first place has changed again as Jordin Sparks takes the top spot on 38%. Melinda Doolittle has second place sewn up on 24% while Blake Lewis takes third on 15%.

Now, who are the bottom three as predicted by the polls?

Taking third lowest spot is Sanjaya Malakar on 5% of the vote. The bottom place this week is dead even with both Lakisha Jones and Chris Richardson taking an even 4% of the vote. My pick is that it will be Lakisha going home but who knows.

When it comes to the DialIdol results, third lowest place belongs to Lakisha Jones (9.04%). Second lowest belongs to Blake Lewis (8.49%) while Sanjaya Malakar (8.2%) languishes at the bottom. Interestingly, Phil Stacey takes the top and confident not to be eliminated spot while Melinda Doolittle comes in fourth.

So who is going home tonight? Stick around and find out but it's looking like it's going to be a close one if the Idolblog.com polls are right. Chris or Lakisha? The results are just around the corner.

What was tonight's medley? Kenny Loggins - Outside - From the Redwoods - I'm Alright I'm Alright

Going home:
Sanjaya Malakar
Daughtry - Daughtry (Bonus Track) - Home Home by Chris Daughtry

Bottom Three:
Blake Lewis

Lakisha Jones

Safe:
Phil Stacey
Chris Richardson
Jordin Sparks
Melinda doolittle

Yet to be decided:

No biggie. The majority of his fan base probably thought he was safe. He did have the anchor spot. And Chris did so much worse that everyone probably thought he would be a goner. Blake will rebound next week. Country isnt for everyone, so I dont hold it against him that he was sub-par. I still have him top 2

Sorry, to all the Blake lovers, but he is so boring without his beatboxing. His voice is hardly all that without it. His performance Tues. night was off-key and pitchy, so being a bottom-dweller made sense to me.

I couldn't enjoy Sanjya leaving , with Blake in the bottom 3 .. thats a scary thought, the most votes for top 7 final elimination and Blake had less then Richardson and Stacy .. We basically have gotten all the garbage off the stage finally but Blake can't leave before then .. there is no way!
