For the moment, it's David Cook's world and we just live — and download — in it. That would be the conclusion to draw, anyway, from this week's digital-songs chart, where American Idol-atry has truly reached critical mass. Cook's TV coronation anthem, "Time of My Life," debuted atop that chart with 236,000 downloads.
But his success hardly stopped there: "Big" David had a total of 14 songs bow on the digital songs chart. His second-biggest single of the week, "Dream Big," bowed at No. 6 with 111,000 sold, and he claimed a third entry in the chart's top 10, selling 98,000 copies of his cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (No. 9). Other Cook entries on the digital-songs chart: his maligned-by-Simon rendition of Collective Soul's "World I Know" (No. 14 with 80,000 sold); "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (No. 21 with 60,000 sold); "Billie Jean" (No. 24 with 56,000 sold); "Always Be My Baby" (No. 29 with 47,000 sold); and "Hello" (No. 32 with 42,000 sold). It's a good sign that, when he gets around to completing an album, Cook should really be able to sell records — in bulk. (Unlike some other recent Idols.)
But Cook wasn't alone in the Idol sales bonanza this week. "Little" David Archuleta's Simon-approved cover of "Imagine" debuted at No. 16 on the digital songs chart with 71,000 sold; his "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" came in at No. 26 with 51,000; "In This Moment" was two spots behind with 49,000; and nine more Archuleta songs appeared in the chart's top 200.

Hey, I have to agree with the question about your age...your grammar is appalling. David Cook won by a landslide in a democratic voting system! What more could you ask for? David Archaletta is another Ruben Studdard, lot's of voice, no musical feeling, stage presence or personality, and let's face it, how many ballads do you want to hear if you attend a concert?

My two favs are David Cook!!!! and David Archuleta! I definitely think David Cook should win though He is very talented and I love every song he sings. I don't think David Archuleta's voice is strong enough to win but he's still a cutie. (He shouldn't win because of that though) With that said, GO DAVID C!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this guys voice. I don't give a crap about people bitching that he's taking other singers credit about a song. This is about SINGING and nothing else. This guy has the most vocal talent out of ANY of the contestants on this show.
I don't like American Idol all that much but when I see somebody that leaves an impression on me then I start watching it. Only 2 people have done that too me. It was Chris Daughtry and David Cook. I believe David Cook is even better than Chris Daughtry and would LOVE to hear both of them in a song.
David has a multi-faceted vocal talent that can use all different types of genre's except country (much like my own) and will easily make a popular rock star (not a singer, a star).
I believe it'll be him and David Archeleta in the finals.

David Cook is amazing. No one can do what he does. He has a raw and rare talent that is going to take him places that the other contestants will never go. I've been supporting him since day 1, and will continue to do so - Even once he wins this competition and goes on to winning Grammy's -

******In response and full respect to J Ward's comments, time and time again artists tend to emulate a different version of other artists'songs, but David Cook has a special niche in making his version that leave people awestruck in his style of making music. Combover..that's what Cook's hair is. And America is not ready for a balding Idol. To make matters worse he is in denial about the rapidly widening forehead. He will look like human if he just shave the whole damn hair.
Lets face it America....David Cook's mongoloid/balding appearance will have an affect on his ability to be successful. I agree he can sing...fairly well, but let's be honest, only those idols who were attractive to the wide masses of audiences such as Underwood, Clarkson, etc are undeniably successful. Even hillbilly girl Kellie Pickler who had a less than desirable voice made is making it big time in country-western music because of her sex appeal and down home characteristics. My advice to David Cook? Cut your hair and apply for the character of "Corky" on a Life Goes On reunion.

um excuse me? i believe 2 years ago we had an american idol with GRAY hair. and also, this competition isnt about how they LOOK, its about their voice. But to add to his amazing voice he looks GREAT! so i think ya'll should back off and let his voice take him to the top!

So what if he is balding a bit. Everyone has flaws, but some people have to show it to the world. Its not like he has chosen to go bald, and at least he has the guts to follow his dream and be on stage taking the ridicule with the praise , in a world where so many are more concerned about his hairstyle than his amazing talent. David Cook is taking credit for other artists 'covered' arrangements - SV is right - 3/25 he sang Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean and in the earlier rounds he covered Lionel Richie's Hello - which was originally covered by Incubus 6 years ago on a live album. He is entertaining and performs the songs very well, but he is not as creative as the judges or people are saying, he is doing covers of covers and 'humbly' taking credit.
who really cares if he has hair or not or who's song is sung by any of the contestants as long as they sing it well? everyone is saying how each contestant is better and worse but they are all good and deserve some respect here. sure we all have our favorites but the talent is what we are to look at as singers. how they look is very important but to nickpick at every little thing , whats that for? just because only one can win doesn't mean the rest are bad. just that only one can win.
