Katharine Mcphee is this year's Carrie Underwood!

I'm from NJ and there is an employee on one of the big radio stations here who is totally plugging Katherine McPhee on air all the time. Apparently he knows her-she is his sister's babysitter in CA- Anyway he is totally publicising her out  way overboard!  She's good and all but is this really fair to all the other contestants??? I thought this competition was about singers bringing there best not using their best connections..........

She is one hot chick and she can sing too!!

Definately the best female singer on this season.

She is starring in a movie titled "Crazy". She is gorgeous and if she has connections she is entitled to use them.

I would agree with you if she weren't so good... but she is.... good.  And artists become superstars because radio plays them and the people respond.  It's American Idol, not America's Most Talented.  Elliot Yamin is also amazingly talented, but he won't even break the top 5 in this competition.  This competition is completely subjective.  People down here are having Taylor Hicks parties that are televised locally!  It happens like that for everyone.  They have to be good to win. Period.

i have known katharine for 21 years and she is as beautiful inside as she is outside. she was born to sing and that she will.

Katharine is by far the best. She has the best voice, she is beautiful, and her personality is incredibly sweet and cute. I vote for her every week. She deserves to win, and I hope everyone else has the brains to see it.

I have known Katharine since she was about 12 years old.  She is so so talented, has a great sense of humor and has a wonderful disposition.  I believe all the publicity can only help. Remember it is America voting.  The more people hear or read about a person, the more they seem to know them.  It would be great if Katharine was the next American Idol....but if not she will go VERy, Very Far!

Katharine McPhee is the best performer there has ever been on all five seasons of American Idol. She will win without a doubt. She has beauty and talent - what a great combination!  Music producers will be lining up to sign her - not to mention the movie directors and marketers who want her to endorse their products!!!Go Katharine- you are a star already!!!

Katerine Mcphee is a fat ass bitch. Period. Her fake smile with her mouth wide open is just too much. Her face is certainly pretty though, very Zeta-Jones look.
But man, the rest of her is just too fake for my taste. Glad Taylor won. And to all you Mcfever fans, what are you people 5 years old? No wonder this country is going to shit.

OK, my two-cents'-worth.  Katherine McPhee (McPheever) is by FAR the best singer of the final 12.  Perfect pitch on every song, a stylist (and some people actually think 'copycat' CHRIS is a stylist -- HA!), and man can she emote on stage.  Add that to the fact that she's gorgeous to look at, and seems to have an honest and great personality to boot:  how can she LOSE????

Katharine is a STAR! She is amazing talented, gorgeous, sweet, and has the stuff that American Idol is looking for. She's got the WHOLE PACKAGE!! (And this is coming from a woman! I love to listen to and watch her perform.)

She and I and the bartender got to talking about behind the scenes gossip and she said that all the backstage people and producers and directors said K was a royal bee-yaaa-tch. The bartender said that is what he hears constantly when the crew comes to the restaurant.

When Paris was voted off, she was asked what she appreciated about various other contestants, and when they asked her what she learned from K, she paused and said, 'the value of being alone'.

I have to say that Kellie isn't annoying. She's a really good singer. So is Katharine but I like Kellie's singing voice better.

Armchair quarterbacks may be startled by Taylor Hicks' triumph over
Katharine McPhee in the finals of American Idol, but I, for one,
wasn't surprised. Beyond question, the sultry femme from California
had a better set of pipes — cleaner, more brilliant and well-trained —
than the rough-edged belter out of Alabama. But she wasn't the better
musician.

How could that be? How could McPhee's knockout mezzo and near-flawless
renditions come in second to Taylor's idiosyncratic dance moves and
gravelly voice?

Because art and perfection aren't the same. Because music and
technique aren't interchangeable. Because McPhee, for all her slick
turns of phrase and gymnastic melisma, didn't celebrate the music when
she sang. She celebrated herself.

Look at me, she seemed to say. Look at this trick. Watch me juggle
cats (or Kats) in the air.

McPhee's performances often generated "Wows," but viewers wowed the
instrument in her throat, not the songs she performed. At times her
interpretations turned me off a song. Before she sang it, I rather
liked Black Horse and the Cherry Tree; now I'll be glad if I never
hear it again.

Hicks' performances, meanwhile, reminded me why I loved Stevie Wonder
or the Doobie Brothers to begin with. He shook up Takin' It to the
Streets with such unembarrassed joy — and truly, how else should it be
sung? — that I wanted to climb on stage and sing it with him. He
earned his own "Wows." Wow, that's a fun little nugget of pop candy.
Wow, what a blast it must be to sing it.

And he sang it well. As popular as it is to criticize Hicks' awkward
gestures (the elbow crunch; the agonized grimace; the spastic head
jerk) and totally bananas footwork, there's nothing wrong with his
technique.

Simon Cowell confirmed as much in one of his softer comments from the
judges' table. The guy has a good ear — in Idol parlance, he
isn't "pitchy" — and an intuitive feel for phrasing, combining well-
judged dynamics and punchy rhythms to take a song right where it ought
to go, but no further.

With Hicks, technique is a tool — not an end but a means.

When it becomes an end, as it so often did with McPhee, the result is
a virtuosic pyrotechnic blow-out in which the performer's skill
overshadows the composer's art.

How often I wanted to scream, "Get out of the way!" I yearned to hear
the melody under all that lacy accessorizing.

Cowell repeatedly urged her to simplify, and when she finally did — on
Somewhere Over the Rainbow — the stripped-bare beauty of the song
emerged with exquisite tenderness.

All great music has something to communicate, and all great musicians
communicate it. That's the gist of performance: not to show off, but
to reach out to listeners in an intimate and powerful way. This is
true of all inspired performers in all ages and musical genres, from
Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen to Enrico Caruso.

A wise musician friend of mine, commenting on a young pianist who had
just ripped some Liszt to shreds, observed, "He plays the piano, not
the piece." Different instrument, same problem: McPhee has the pipes,
but she seldom sings the song.

Katharine aint nearly as likeable as Carrie.  I think she's pretty annoying, actually.

Im one of your fans from the Philippines. I think you're going to win. Im betting on you! Really! Chris can sing too, but I guess he's not that original either..but he's hot! Taylor sounds like Michael Bolton! He's good but i dont think America will vote him as the idol of em all!
