FOX has once again tapped gold with its fourth season of American Idol. Who will be the next Kelly Clarkson, Rubben Studdard, or Fantasia Barrino? This season features a colorful cast of contestants, including a slightly more mature group since FOX increased the age limit from 26 to 28. Another small change is semi-finals featuring just the men and just the women.
What makes this reality show so successful when so many programs have come and gone? Many watch the early episodes because they feature plenty of delusional contestants who believe they can sing. These aspiring celebrities make fools of themselves, which is entertaining. For example, last season Ricky Martin-wannabe William Hung earned notoriety and a record deal for his renditions of "She Bangs" and other knock-offs.
But watching singers with real talent is also interesting. According to Starpulse member Crockett3663, "I love watching the A.I. auditions! They are just too funny. It's also cool because it's your first chance to see some people who can really sing."
Another great thing about the show is that America decides who wins. Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson give their opinions, but ultimately it is the viewers' choices that count. So who will be the next American Idol?

Doesn't anyone see the super talent that Sanjiah really represents??!! He could be the next Michael Jackson. He sang with Jennifer Lopez and it melted every female in the audience. He can dance, sing, act -- he REALLY connects with his audience. Someone PALEESE, please work with him to bring out his potential.
Blake -- he will out sell all record sales of any American Idol. Just that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taylor Hicks - who is working with this guy??!. He could be a superstar, but no one is clearing the way.
This from an ageless person, who can spot talent and has guessed correctly on every American Idol, except this year. I chose Blake over Jordan. The entertainer over the voice.

I think it's time for American Idol to change the voting style. There is No Way that Melinda should have not been in the finals and most likely won the American Idol "07 Award!!! She was the most consistent in her singing outdoing the others, best personality, always put on a Great Performance, etc. If you saw "The View" on Wednesday, Elisabeth(one of the hosts on the View) stated that she used her telephone, her cell, her husbands cell, the computer, etc. to send as many votes to Blake as possible because he sent her an e-mail wishing her happiness with her new baby to come. She apparently met Blake and that's why he sent her an e-mail. She didn't vote for him being the best singer, but because he e-mailed her she voted for him!! I think the judges should vote like Dancing with the stars, and the judges vote counts for 50% and outside voters 50%. This was the Worst Voting Year, look how long Sanjiah lasted!!! Really Upset about Melinda, she deserved a spot in the Finals!!! Worst American Idol Year Yet!!! I don't even look forward to next year anylonger!!!
