Top 3 Results - Who will make the grand final of American Idol in 2009!?
What was that sketch at the top of the show about with Ben Stiller? A nice piece of movie promotion inter weaved with the Idol brand.
Over 88 million votes came in last night and there were less than a million votes separating the Top 2. That certainly makes for an interesting result next week.
Some African kid performs a song as part of the whole Idol Gives Back thing. Texting "Alive" to 90999 will donate $5 to some HIV related charity (Keep a Child Alive). The performance is a little weird and feels out of place. African Idol, yes. American Idol, no. However, if you really want, Noah's performance is available on iTunes if you would like to buy it.
Danny's trip to Milwaukee is up first with a presidential like motorcade to take him to thousands of waiting fans. Danny is reunited with Jamar who was cut just before the top 12. Danny looks pretty emotional as he meets his hometown fans. Crazy times! There is a huge crowd out to see him with the mayor, not to mention the crowd at the baseball stadium.
It's not verdict time for Danny though. Kris takes to the middle of the stage to watch his homecoming video where he went back to Conway, AK. A much smaller crowd but just as vocal on his arrival. Still a lot of people and a ticker-tape parade. What an emotional time with his dad greeting him though.

Adam's homecoming to San Diego included one girl who decided to streak his arrival. Check out all those other screaming teenage girls. It's crazy there too. Adam gets a day dedicated to him while a couple of young girls scream at the fact that he signed their shoe.
One final performance before we get to the verdict we've all been waiting for. Katy Perry and Waking Up In Vegas. She has a terrible outfit on and probably would have been better to have lip synced. Ew.. get on with the results people!
Finally! After the millionth ad break of the night, the lights are dimmed and the results are read out. Kris Allen is through to the Finale next week! Does that mean we're about to say goodbye to Adam Lambert? NO! It's the end of the road for Danny Gokey.

I understand people LOVE Adam. But here's my thing. I don't get how he's marketable for rock music. Maybe if we were still back in the 80's & 90's ya. But that is not the sound of rock music today. Ex: Disturbed,mudvain,slipknot and so on. Adam does not fit todays style of rock. He's more along the lines of Van Halen,Poison and so on. So if he does win and goes on to rock singing I don't know were they'll fit him in. Not that he isn't good he's just out dated. I don't know maybe Emo Punk? I just don't see him as marketable in the hard rock genre of today.
I think that the voters will have to decide if they want a star or an artist as their winner this year.
Sure, Adam is wonderful to watch - he somehow finds an opportunity to scream and screech in every performance - but he is definitely talented.
Kris, on the onther hand, if very appealing because he is kinda like a lottery winner - bought the ticket but never ever thought that he would win.
American Idol makes money on the winners of these competitions through record sales and concerts. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I listen to the raido, I like to sing along to the songs that I hear. There is no way that I can follow Adam in his songs. Kris is great to listen to, Adam is great to watch ... should be interesting.

And as far as the screaming and screeching goes 'in every performance'--OK, he did Wild Cherry, Robert Plant, Aerosmith for the sake of pete. Nobody seemed to mind them when they screamed, in fact all those songs turned out to be HUGE so somebody must have liked them. That 'screeches on every song' mantra is about as valid to me as saying Adam is the only contestant in the competition who's had any performing experience. We all know that's not true (she should still be in the competition, btw).

Stop all the bitching over crowd size and perceived favoritism...this is a talent contest and should be voted on as such. Adam has clearly been the most talented, creative and fun performer over the weeks!
I don't get it! Why people are spiteful with Lambert? First thing first, I'm not a big fan of his but Giraud( too bad he is out). Anyhow, Lambert is a great vocalist, performer and every positive word that you can think of. Plus, he's a consistent planner and an excellent strategist. He does not play safe and keep stressing and emphasizing to the world that he is one of a kind. He is like the next of Muse and the best part is that he is doing solo. It is too flattering to name him "the Rock God" like Kara did as he's still a contestant and new to this industry. However, in my opinion, I think he will be one in the future. As for Allen, sure he is a talented singer and showed his artistry but then I do not think that he will go as far as Lambert. Yes he is a good looking man,that's a plus! and humble. The fact that he announced that he is married or maybe he is a typical boy next door. it is interesting to listen to his songs as he's really creative and artistic. He still does not have the 'magic' to make his performance as exciting as Lambert's. so yeah we'll just have to wait who is the lucky boy!
FWIW, I like Matt too...I pretty much liked them all. Adam just happens to be my favorite. I think a lot of people bust on Adam because of how they perceive him to be. They give these little code words or phrases like 'too theatrical' or 'screeches every song' in order to make themselves not sound bad, but it's obvious at least to me what the meaning of those phrases is.
Adam to me (like all the contestants) seems like I nice, personable kid. It's a shame all these things that are being said just because people might see him as different than what they think he should be.
I think Adam's wonderful and can sing the snot out of anything thrown at him. I thought that's what this competition was about. I am hoping and praying for an Adam win!
who cares how big the crowds were....the only people who think the show is fixed is the people whos person they were voting for got kicked off. lets face it.....Kris, Danny, and Adam are all very talented and they are all going to do something after american idol no matter who wins.
I think Adam is a fraud. He wants to be famous so bad he cant stand it. He wants the "Paris Hilton" kind of fame. I dont think he cares about being an artist or making albums I think he just wants to see his name in lights and his guyliner eyes on TV
So I thought this was a contest for vocalists..... I believe that Adam is definitely the best vocalist. Between Kris and Danny, it was Danny, hands down. Kris always seemed to "stay safe" where Danny wasn't afraid to reach. Just like Randy said this is a "singing contest" ...... I believe Kris got the votes because of his looks and the guitar playing .... neither of which should be a factor.
I'd love to see a show where the singers are anonymous..... no names, no faces.... just voices.....
i agree that even though danny mgiht technically be a better vocalist it was the shows decision to allow instruments this year in the competition so they are clearly llooking for a package deal like kris!
AI was never a purely vocal competition. It's about finding a talented and marketable recording artist, so Kris wins over Danny in that regard "hands down".
That said, I agree Danny is a better pure vocalist than Kris but Kris will make a better American Idol if he wins because he is an artist, constantly playing with arrangements and making songs his own. Danny was the one who "stayed safe" by failing to own the songs he sang, just following the established arrangements of the original versions and generally lacking in creativity.
get over it kris and danny fans. that is life.. someone has to go and it happens to be them because they SUUCK!!! TOTALLY!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!
accept the fact that both of them are LOSERS!! what you can do is to buy their CDs/Album if you do really love them so much. because we Adam lovers will go and support him.

Adam is so phony it is sickening!! All he does is scream and screech all through his songs, kind of tells you that maybe he's really not as good as you think he is, he has to hide behind his smoke screens. Let's face it, he is definately NOT the better singer.
Danny Gokey is and will always be the better singer.

Sorry Craig. This Danny fan WILL NOT vote for Adam. I think most Danny fans will swing their votes for Kris. Rmember what Ryan said at the beginning of the show? There were only 1 million vote seperating the top two out of 88 million. That's not a lot of ground to make up (assuming Adam was the biggest vote getter). So maybe net week we can put an end to the Adan love fest. I aggree with others that Danny (and Kris) will outperform Adam in the long haul. There are very few 'single' rockers. Most are in BANDS. And if he is as good as AI claims, why hasn't he already joined a band before this year? Maybe there's more to THAT story. No, Kris and Danny will do very well in their solo careers.

As far I am an concerned, Danny was and is the 2009 American Idol.
Danny has charm and charisma and you get right into the song with him. He is certainly the better singer, although not the better performer. Glitz and glamour are not his style as in Adam's case. To me, that is phony all the way. Moussy-eyed "Oh please America, vote for me" is Kris' style and that is pathetic to say the least.
American Idol was over for me when they let Danny go. I personally do not care which of the two left wins now.
Ya Kris may of had that many at his performance, but Danny had, 25,000 at the Summerfest grounds for his 35 min show before he had a parade down Wisconsin Ave in Milwaukee to Miller Park , were he sang the National Anthem, and threw out the first pitch in front of a sold out crowd of over 43,000. Oh and by the way that was a last min decision by the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.. So between the 2 of the 6 events that Danny attended in his home town there were over 68,000 people there.... Add the parades ( ya not 1 but 2 of them), the stop at the radio station, the news station, the cell phone shop, and the airport.... I think Danny prob had at least 75,000 people show up to support him.... NOW THAT IS SOMETHING GREAT !!!!!!
Danny got shafted! I agree that the judges treated Adam differently than the other contestants by basically writing him off as the winner before the final. IMHO, Adam sucks! He has a good voice only when he stays in the middle of his range. The screaming has to stop! My pet peeve is when these contestants veer off from the melody and go over the top and you don't even recognize the original song anymore. Danny was, by far, the best singer of the final 3. I think the judges see Adam as being more "marketable" in the music world. Sorry, but I don't dig the extreme hairdo, makeup, and clothes. I'd rather hear a good voice, cause let's be honest, that's what I'm gonna hear on the radio. I predict that Adam's CD/download sales are gonna stink compared to Danny. I just can't disagree more with the judges this year on how good they think Adam is. I think the judges got it wrong this year. I heard Danny sing the national anthem when I watched the Brewers game and he did a super job! I doubt Adam could do that good, in fact, I think he would butcher it with his screaming. Adam's version of One was worse than I thought it would be! Nobody can do U2 better than U2! Poor song choice there Adam...oh wait! Simon picked that one! Shame on you Simon! It seems as if it's all rigged anyway. Remember the big Chris Daughtry upset? Yeah, shocked us all, but look at him now! Don't worry Danny, you have a huge future ahead of you. Adam should hope he can do half as well as you will in the future!
Sorry if this posted twice but I didn’t see it the first time.
I can agree with most of what you said. I didn’t start watching AI until around the final 10 or 12, but I do remember thinking that the judges really seem to be partial to Adam. So I kept watching and was very disturbed by the obvious favoritism they were showing him, from Kara calling him a Rock God and Randy practically proclaiming him Idol 2009 to even Simon’s un-characteristic mushiness toward Adam. I really tried to find something to like about his voice but could never get past the screeching that we came to count on to be in every song he sang. There was NEVER even a second that gave me goose bumps while listening to him sing. But Danny did it EVERY TIME. So did Alison. Between the 2 of them there were so many WOW moments. I missed the episode when Alison was cut and was pretty disappointed when I found out. Out of the final 4, I thought that Adam SHOULD be the first to go -- if votes were really based on talent.
The “voting off” of Danny was just unbelievable. He is a far superior artist than either Adam or Kris. Danny is much more refined and mature. At this point I do feel that the judges (IMO) unethically swayed victory in Adam’s favor and if Kris wins it will be a totally unexpected surprise. I really feel that the outcome is, lets just say, preordained, not exactly sure if it’s by decision higher than the judges or the constant exalting of Adam (by the judges) influencing the voting, but either way there just is something that doesn’t sit right.
This was the worst Idol public decisions. Chris has been in the bottom three several times. I agree with one of the post that Chris was set up to beat Danny so Adam would have no competition. Correction ,Danny had 26,000 in attendance at his concert more then Chris's 20,000. Danny voters will vote Adam, Chris your in the top two by default!
You've been watching this season for how many weeks yet you still don't know his name is spelled K-R-I-S? As for the attendance, Milwaukee is a much bigger city than Little Rock and Conway, AR combined. Duh.
People picked Chris over Danny because it would be easier for Adam to win against Chris. Adam was given coveted attention by the judges. Paula's song choice was Danny's demise> Danny your the best!!!
This is the biggest upset in AI hx. I think even bigger then the Daughtry ousting. The judges saboutaged Danny with a lame song choice and their promotion of Adam all over the talk show circuit. Does not anyone hear Adam's shrilling and screaming. His version of One was terrible. Bono should suit Simon for talking him into allowing him to sing it. I admit Adam and Danny were my favorites in the beginning but after awhile enough is enough. Who is Adam, he is a Freddie Prince/9 inch nails/Elvis wanna be. What is the deal with Katie P sporting am Adam logo on cape. She should have kept it on to hide her thighs. I was a huge AI fan and will never watch again. This week made realize what my friends have been saying for a long time...it's a sham and it's fixed.

The judges have been trying to push Danny into the finale since Day 1 of this season with comments like "see you in the final" and by completelyy ignoring the facts any time Danny had a bad performance. Maybe Paula's song choice for Danny wasn't the best, but Danny did his own share of sabotage with his own lame song choice.
Also, I forgot to add that the 20,000 was just at his concert in downtown Conway at Simon Park. There were 1,000 at a concert in Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas, and around 16,000 at the Riverfront Amphitheater in Little Rock. In addition to the 1,000 or so that showed up at the Fox 16 news studio, where he went almost as soon as he got off the plane.
Just a little correction - Kris's crowd was not only larger than Danny's, but it was rumored to be the largest crowd at ANY American Idol homecoming concert since the show started. It was estimated at over 20,000.
Danny had just as many fans as Kris. Danny had close to 20,000 fans at the baseball stadium not to mention the parade and people on the streets. He also had a Danny Gokey day.
All rumors came from the fox 16 Arkansas bais report. KRIS will be history at the end of the season
